Photographed by Scott J. Spangenberg at Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum
in Tucson, Arizona, United States on 5/31/03 3:10:46 PM5/31/03.
Canon EOS D60 with 100-400 mm 370.0 mm 1/30 sec f5.6 +0.0 400. Copyright © 2009, All Rights Reserved. Image 1 of 1, file: 2003-05-07-065.JPG. Also known as the Tiger Cat and Tree Ocelot, this rare and highly arboreal cat is one of only two species of cats in the world whose wrists allow it to climb face down. (The other is the Clouded Leopard.) There is one US record from 1852, in Eagle Pass Texas, but the current range of this very rare cat only extends to 300 miles south of the US/Mexico border. ![]() |
