Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cuculatus). Other times, the Hoodie would attack from under water. All of a sudden you would see one of the male Mallards fly up or go tearing away from the flock for no apparent reason. Then you would see the Hoodie pop up right where the Mallard had been.
